Be Advised by Experts

Who advises students and what do they work on? Meet our faculty.

You will be advised by experts in the field of industrial hygiene. Our primary faculty include Reneé Anthony, Patrick O’Shaughnessy, and Tom Peters.

Faculty associated with our program include other professors in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health (Carri Casteel, Nate Fethke, and Peter Thorne).

T. Renee Anthony

Our faculty have ‘real world’ perspective, experience, and partnerships in diverse sectors, including manufacturing, health care, and agriculture. For example:

  • Dr. Tom Peters is developing a sensor network to assess exposures to noise, ozone, carbon monoxide, and particles in manufacturing (link)
  • Dr. Renee Anthony leads the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health to improve worker health and safety in the agricultural sector
  • Dr. Matt Nonnenmann develops ways to sample airborne viruses

We take our research outside the workplace fence line. Drs. O’Shaughnessy and Peters use novel assessment tools to assess community exposures, such as particulate exposures from sand mines used to supply hydraulic fracturing [link].
